Map of Group's area of interest

THIS WEB-SITE WAS LAUNCHED ON 3rd MAY 2005 AND IS CONSTANTLY UNDER REVIEW - PLEASE BEAR WITH US

An initial meeting was held in An  Drochaid [The Bridge] in Claggan, Fort William on 1st Sept 2004 to "test out the potential for some kind of ... group for people who are interested in tracing family roots";

After a further meeting at An Drochaid we had, courtesy of St Andrew's Episcopal church, Fort William our meetings in  their church hall .  Our objective is, of course, to find our own premises where we can store our Family History records and, eventually, have micro-Fiche/Film readers and computer(s).

We currently hold our Meetings in the Public Library, Airds Crossing, Fort William - where we have access to Computers and Fiche/Film readers for the Censuses and OPRs - on the 2nd Tuesday of the month - except June, July and August when we take our Summer break.

A 'steering group' was appointed and 'directed operations' until Group Officers were appointed at our 1st AGM in Sept 2005.

Membership of the Group is open to anyone having an interest in the families from the area and, indeed, in the area itself.
