St John's / Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Portnacroish, Appin Argyll

The church was, until 1841, ministered to from Ballachulish at which time it became a joint charge with St Adamnan, Duror and St Mary's, Glencreran.

The church was opened for worship in 1809 and was consecrated in 1815.  The pulpit was originally on the north wall and there were doors at the east and west ends under the galleries.  In 1885 Capt Stewart of Fasnacloish changed the layout and the pulpit was moved to the west end. A large wing was added at some point on the north side as a school and was at one time used as accomodation for the priest.  A layout similar to the original was restored in 1974 and the north wing was brought partly into the church and partly as a vestry.
